The Ghost MV1 Vaporizer Brings Fresh Approach to Portable Vaping

The highly anticipated Ghost MV1 portable vaporizer has hit the Australian herbal vaping community like a tropical cyclone.

We love high-end portable vaporizers in Australia and the MV1 surely brings a fresh approach to this category.

GHOST Vapes have completely re-imagined portable vaporizing and created a unique, full convection, on-demand vaporizer that produces outstanding quality vapor.

The product is beautifully packaged and presented and makes a very good first impression. Once you open the box, you’ll see further care taken how well the Ghost Vape is protected and presented by its well-designed packaging.

Having a look at the vaporizer itself, it further extends the feeling of quality and great design.

The Ghost looks and feels very solid. Measures about 335 grams, so it definitely has a good weight to it.

All components are medical-grade, custom-designed and engineered to ensure heat tolerance and safety.

The vaporizer is built around a ceramic heating element at the bottom of the vape that feeds hot air (full convection) to the crucible, through your herbs and to the mouthpiece.

The crucible or your herb chamber is behind that latch door that you can see on the top half of the vaporizer.
When you slide the latch to release the door, you’ll see the ceramic crucible with stainless steel lid in there.

Your ground herbs go into the crucible and then back to the device before you shut the door.

Before you start up your device, it is recommended that you charge it for 5 hours to condition the battery.

The Ghost MV1 has a large 7.2v /2600mAh custom-engineered battery pack to power such a beast of a vaporizer.

You can charge the battery with the supplied USB charging cable, or pick up a Fast Charger. The Fast Charger is a high capacity wall charger that just about halves the time you have to wait for the battery to charge up.

After you charged for 5 hours the first time, put it back on the device and press the mode button (front button) for a few seconds until the green LED flashes up to indicate that the vaporizer has connected the battery.

From here, the magic begins.

You can operate the Ghost MV1 with or without the Ghost App. The App is easy to use and very useful, however, the device is super simple to operate without it as well.

The App is really self-explanatory, however, I walk you through the manual operation.

Press the mode button on the front 3 times in a sequence to turn the unit on.

Remember, the Ghost is an ‘on-demand’ vaporizer, so turning it on does not start a session as such. It just means it is good to go when you are.

Next step is to set your temperature. You can simply do this by holding down the mode button for a few seconds until it shows the battery level with the LED lights as follows.

One green LED – Low charge
Two green LEDs – Medium charge
Three green LEDs – Full charge

When the device shows you the battery charge level, release the mode button for a moment and press again. After a few seconds, the LEDs will start flashing.

This means that you can release the button and set your temperature by single pressing the mode button.

Below are the available temperature settings for herbs.

One orange LED – 175°C
Two orange LEDs – 185°C
Three orange LEDs – 200°C
One red LED – 210°C
Two red LEDs – 220°C

The last two temperature settings (the 2 red LED ones) can be customized through the app and set to any temperature you would like between 140 and 220 degrees Celsius.

The final step before you can start vaping is to adjust the glass mouthpiece.

The mouthpiece is fully in the device in the pack, however, it is recommended that you pull it out until you fill it locks in. At that point, it is fully extended and if you pull further, you will pull it out completely.

This full-extension point provides you with the easiest draw. If you’d like more resistance in your draw, you can push the glass mouthpiece further and further into the device and experiment as you are drawing until you find your ideal draw resistance.

I usually use the device with the mouthpiece fully extended.

When you are ready, press and hold the vape button at the back. When you press it down, you can hear and sense a short vibration, keep holding the button.

After a few seconds, you’ll hear and feel a longer vibration, which means you can start drawing while you keep holding the vape button down.

You can release the vape button when you finished with your draw or it will vibrate again after 15 seconds, which means it is time to let the button go and finish your draw.

We found the Ghost producing massive clouds of great tasting vapor.

The best way we found is to start at the lowest temperature and take 2 to 4 draws before jumping up a temperature setting.

Keep going like this and then finish the crucible off on 220 Celsius.

Once you are done with vaping your herbs, simply open the latch door and take the crucible out. It cools down quickly and becomes cool enough to handle it in about 15 seconds or so.

Concentrate Mode

The Ghost MV1 has a very functional concentrate mode as well.

The 6th temperature setting (after the 5 herb vaping settings) is for concentrates.

There is a stainless steel liquid pad included in the box that you can simply put into a crucible and add your waxy material to it.

Set your Ghost to the 6th (three red LEDs) manually or with the app to set the heating element to the temperature you need to vaporize waxes.

The concentrate mode works a little different from the herb mode. Here you have to press the vape button on the back and hold it and start drawing immediately.

You don’t have to wait for the long buzz as you do in herb mode, you just press and draw.

We were positively surprised by how well the concentrate mode actually works. Liquid pads come in some shape or form with most portable vaporizers, however, we usually don’t make much use of them. The Ghost does a good job with waxes as well, quite impressive.

In terms of cleaning and maintenance, you need to pop out the top mouthpiece part from the device as you can see below.

You can pull that bit further apart and clean it reasonably quickly in isopropyl alcohol.

Conclusion

The Ghost MV1 has surely brought a fresh approach to the high-end portable vaporizer space and we rate the device very highly.

Full convection technology is not an easy one in portables and it seems like Ghost Vapes are cracking it.

The vaporizer heats up in a few seconds and once you get the hang of it, it is really easy to operate.
